Halloween is a great holiday - it's spooky and it's fun. Finn's nursery held a party to celebrate. I expected the kids would all come dressed in pink fairy outfits, but they didn't. There were a few pumpkins, but mainly they were dressed as more sinister characters....evil fairies, ghosts, skeletons, and even a kid dressed in a yowie suit. As we entered the school there was foreboding music playing and a huge statue of a black witch. The garden was full of ghosts and spiders and there were creepy crawlies that jumped out at you from the garden.
We dressed Finn up as a vampire. It was the last costume we could grab and it's pretty easy. He kept saying he was a 'fan fire' and he didn't really get it, but he knew he was scary and was excited to dress up. It's probably a good thing he didn't quite get the concept of feeding on humans, being undead, turning into a bat, and why to be worried about wooden stakes. He already doesn't like garlic so that was an easy win. This is him with his fake vampire teeth and our half hearted attempt at a classic vampire widow's peak. He gave himself a black eye earlier in the week with a rebounding block so we evened it up with some eyeliner on the other one. Wilf isn't so sure about him.
We went to another Halloween party last night at the British school. This party was even better - it had a train for the kids to ride on and a jumping castle. Finn ran around like a spring lamb, bouncing around between the different rides. He loved it but we didn't get home until 9pm - one vampire who didn't need to be encouraged to get into his coffin for the night.
And you know what we are doing this afternoon? You guessed it. Another Halloween party. This one is in Zamalek and we are planning to drive ourselves. We've finally got our car, so now we need to learn how to drive 'Cairo style'. Not an easy task.
